On Monday October 20th, 2014 the Ravens golf team competed in the state golf tournament in Topeka, KS. The Ravens placed 4th overall as a team with a score of 364. The Ravens were led by freshmen Rosie Klausner who shot a score of 82, placing 4th overall for individual results.
Head Coach Sydney Tucker was excited about Klausner's performance.
"I'm very excited for her, she did a great job," Tucker said. "Especially the fact that she didn't play her best on the front side, with a score of 45. Then to turn around and score a 37 on the back side, which is incredible."
Senior Ragan Kinkade's only year with the Ravens golf team ended with a top 20 finish at the state tournament tying for 18th with a score of 90. Team Captain Chloe Kraus tied for 22 with a score of 93.
The golf team has two graduating seniors, Ragan Kinkade and Chloe Kraus.
"That's going to hurt us. But we do have a couple girls on Junior Varsity that will be able to step up next year," Tucker said. "We are hoping to have some new freshmen coming in. So we have a lot of girls working on their game, that will have a good impact on us."
With the Ravens having a sophmore heavy variety team, they had only one placing in the top 50. Top scoring sophomore Brennan James tied for 36th with a score of 99. Next Raven sophomore Abby Julo placed 58th with a score of 106. Finally, sophomore Halle England placed 78th with a score of 122.
Coach Tucker had encouraging words about her team's performance.
"Everybody gave it their all, since it is a tough golf course. Its very tight, with lots of trees, and everyone hung in there and played well."
